2022 ロザート、フリッツァンテ、エッセルチ

The SRC 202 Rosato Frizzante is ""col fondo,"" or showing cloudy lees sediment at the bottom of the bottle. The wine opens to a light pink color with copper highlights. It is 90% Nerello Mascalese with an unnamed mix of other grapes in the blend. Fruit comes from 80-year-old plants in the Contrade Crasà and Calderara. The bouquet is a bit funky at first, with struck match, and takes a few moments to clear. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, it offers a combination of citrus, red berry and yeasty notes of rising bread dough. This is a production of 2,000 bottles. This is one of those quirky wines to enjoy with like-minded friends.
