Description
This is usually from a blend of Les Veroilles and Les Athets but in 2021 the former was so badly frosted that most of the fruit is from Les Athets.

A bright and expressive nose combines notes of just crushed red cherries with hints of lilac, fennel and a similar whiff of exotic tea. As befits a wine mostly from Les Athets, this is rich and solidly powerful with good mid-palate density to the middleweight flavours that boast a robust if not rustic finish. This is not a classic Chambolle of lace and grace but it certainly does not lack for character.

Jancis Robinson MW 16.5/20

Cask sample Sweet, charming start. No disappointment in this wine that is a little denser than some 2021 Chambolles. Drink 2025 - 2037

From up and down slope, Véroilles and Les Athets, more the latter this year. Medium colour, rich strawberry notes, though not much whole bunch, jammier fruit on the palate, with an agreeable finish of medium length. Drink 2025 - 2030

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village comes from the top and bottom of the slope. It has a bright nose with raspberry and cranberry fruit, fine definition and good vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with judicious use of whole bunches. It has a gentle grip with quite a peppery finish. This is promising. Drink 2024 - 2035
