2021 シャトー・ピュイブランケ、サン・テミリオン
This very well-sited property was owned by the Malet Roquefort family of La Gaffelière until 1959; they had to sell in the downturn following the disastrous 1956 frost. But they had the opportunity to buy it back in 2020. The property sits along the limestone ridge that also houses Laroque, Pressac and Valandraud. Alexandre de Malet Roquefort could wait until well into October to complete the harvest. This nicely composed wine is fresh, with an appealing nose strongly around primary red fruits with an accent of spiced, macerated fruit.

Château Puyblanquet
The 2021 Puyblanquet has a high-toned, floral bouquet, with violet petals infusing the red berry fruit and hints of mandarin in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, with a pleasant sappiness on the entry, fine acidity, and a minerally finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a solid effort in a tricky growing season. Drink 2026 - 2040
Oaky and savoury on the nose, this wine is softly fleshy, clean, and mineral at the same time. A mixture of ripe and perhaps just-ripe fruit gives this a sense of purity, linearity, fruit concentration, and weight. It needs some more time to harmonise, but I like the cool blue fruit touches and hints of flint at the end. It has a nice ageing potential. Drink 2024 - 2037
On the nose, there are currants, sliced chilis, dried flowers, and orange peel. The wine is creamy and nicely integrated, with a medium body and fine, medium-firm tannins. It's silky and pretty. Try from 2024
