2020 Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, Domaine de la Vougeraie, Burgundy

One parcel is by the château, the other abuts the main road. They’re harvested and vinified separately. The lower parcel was destemmed; there’s 70% whole-bunch altogether. The team have worked hard on vineyard management; the results show in a wine that is creamy but not dense. The tannins are forceful, but the overall effect is of restraint.
