Description
"Costa Russi" is the most elegant style in the GAJA portfolio.
The name "Costa" means "hill," while "Russi" is the nickname of the vineyard's previous owner, who was given this name after both of his parents died on the Russian front during World War I.
Located at the southwestern edge of Barbaresco, with a southeast-facing orientation, this is the lowest-elevation vineyard among GAJA's single vineyards in the region. The vineyard sits at an altitude of approximately 230 meters, covering 5 hectares of land. The soil is a fertile mix of clay, silt, and limestone, and the vines, mostly old plants planted in 1969, produce this exceptional wine.
The wine is known for its gentle tannins, soft acidity, and light, lingering finish, offering a graceful texture that has garnered widespread acclaim.
