[Osaka] Thursday, May 28: Special Dinner with Deauratus

Deauratus, an up-and-coming winery founded in California in 2023, is pleased to announce that its founder and Japanese winemaker, Shunsei Ishikubo, and co-founder, Eric Baugher, will be visiting Japan.

On this special occasion, we will hold a one-night-only Makers' Dinner at Wine Salon Souple.

It will be a special time to experience the background of the land, philosophy, and flavors of the wine, accompanied by explanations from the winemakers themselves.

The cuisine for the evening will be prepared by "Chinese Cuisine SHIN-PEI," a popular restaurant in Utsubohonmachi, Osaka, that is notoriously difficult to book.

Please come and enjoy a unique evening created by the chef and sommelier.

Deauratus

Deauratus is a truly unique project by two exceptional winemakers who met at Ridge Vineyards, a prestigious winery representing California. 

Eric Baugher joined Ridge Vineyards after studying biochemistry and molecular biology. He is an indispensable winemaker in the history of the winery, having played a central role in winemaking for 27 vintages.

Shunsei Ishikubo began his career as a cellar hand at Nishi Shuzo, a shochu distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture. He then left Nishi Shuzo to study at the University of California, Davis. In 2008, he began working with Eric at Ridge Vineyards, where he was involved in 13 vintages.

The two produced numerous wines that are considered among the finest in Ridge's history, earning perfect 100-point scores multiple times.

In 2023, as the culmination of many years of collaboration and experience, the two realized their dream of launching their own wine brand, "Deauratus."

Deauratus leverages their accumulated knowledge, traveling throughout California to thoroughly research soils, microclimates, and cultivation methods. As a result, they have succeeded in sourcing only the best grapes from the best producers. Based on this philosophy, Deauratus specializes in single-vineyard winemaking.

This will be the first time for Deauratus, with Mr. Ishikubo and Mr. Eric, to visit Japan for an event.
