We are pleased to announce that Berry Bros. & Rudd Japan will be the official distributor of GRAHAM'S, the finest port wine.

Founded in 1820 by brothers William and John Graham, Graham Port quickly became known as a producer of superior port wine.
In 1882, Andrew James Symington travelled from Scotland to Portugal to work for the Graham family.
In 1970, Andrew's grandsons took over the company from the Graham family and now produce excellent Port wine.
He built Graham's Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia and acquired Quinta dos Malvedos in 1890.
Quinta dos Malvedos is a boutique winery with three modern lagers. Originally built in 1890, the winery specializes in the production of Graham Port.

Installed in 2000, the modern lagar (a traditional Douro grape-stomping vessel) is designed to replicate the heat and gentle feel of a human foot.
During the harvest, the grapes are hand-selected upon arrival, then gently destemmed and transferred to one of the lager. Once fermented and fortified, they are transferred to the lodge below, where they are then aged for 20 minutes.
It is stored in casks over the winter before being transported to Graham Lodge in Gaia.

A team of tasters and blenders, led by Master Blender Charles Symington, decides how the wines will age each year.
He is responsible for carefully monitoring the wines that his predecessors selected for aging decades ago.
Charles personally tastes and evaluates the wines as they age, deciding which wines to blend at what ages.
This process involves no scientific analysis, but rather relies on the skill and intuition of experienced winemakers and tasters.
All of the wines are aged at the Graham 1890 Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. The character of the Port depends greatly on the aging method,
Port styles are divided into those that are bottle-aged and those that are aged in small oak barrels or large barrels.

Vintage Port is aged in large barrels for approximately 18 months, and since it is never exposed to air after bottling, the wine's color, structure, complexity and character change slowly over time.
Tawny Port is aged in seasoned oak barrels to improve exposure to oxygen.
This allows the colour to change more rapidly, going from the original deep red-purple to a beautiful brownish hue.
The color and flavor of the Tawny will deepen with each year of aging in barrels.
